Photography Retreat at Gedney Farm in the Berkshires

Back in February I was lucky enough to take part in a winter retreat hosted by the ever-so-talented Ashley Largesse and I’m just getting to wrapping my head around it all. It was unreal and inspiring to spend two full days with other wedding and portrait creatives from around the Northeast.

We practically locked ourselves in a cozy room in the main barn at Gedney Farm that first day and dug deep into our businesses. What inspires us? What are our short term, long term and reach-for-the-stars goals for our business and personal life? Who are our ideal clients, venues, weddings, and other creatives with whom we want to work? These are all questions I’ve asked myself in the past but now that I’m settling into the wedding industry full time, it was extra important to address these questions all over again to ensure I was on the right track.

Day two involved a styled shoot, partly in the main barn at Gedney Farm where weddings take place, and partly outside where our models rocked it in the calf-deep snow and chilling Berkshire winds. So many thanks to the vendors that contributed and made this beautiful styled shoot happen (they’re all listed below!) and to Ashley, who inspired us, drilled answers out of us, brought up some necessary emotion in us and patiently and thoroughly walked us through bringing our images to the next level.

And on that note, it’s so important to seek out what inspires us, but also constantly push ourselves, in our skill set, in our mind set, in our business and personal lives, and it’s also important to recognize the AMAZING community of creatives that help make your special days possible. I’m learning to leave self doubt behind and continue to support the community over the competition so that we can all thrive in this fantastic industry!

More images from the wonderful wedding venue that is Gedney Farm coming at a later date!
